SPINDRIFT FOX RIVER OBATANGA CD, RE, TD, NAP, NJP, VCD1, JH, WD, CGC
"Obie"
Obie is a neutered male who comes to us from the Spindrift lines. He was born in 2001 and is the patriarch of the kennel.
Obie completed his AKC Versatile Companion Dog (VCD) title
November 2006 which required a title in Tracking, Obedience, and
Agility. At the time he was one of about a dozen English Cockers to have earned this title.
He and Tim really enjoy hunting the most and both went goose hunting this past fall for the first time. Obie completed his Rally Excellent title in Spring 2007. In June 2008 he completed his Junior Hunter title.
We are currently working on open obedience.
Obie is a blue roan which is the most common color for this breed. He is
very lovable and will come to anyone willing to pat him on the head, scratch his belly, or
offer him a treat. Obie has the patience and the heart to work with those in
need. The name Obatanga comes from a lake in a provincial park in
November of 2009 Obie was diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma - a form of cancer. We will be giving two different research studies blood and tissue samples. Our hope is that by doing so we will help find a cure for this disease in humans and in dogs. Meanwhile, we will enjoy him for as long as we can.
We lost Obie on Tuesday, April 20th when the crab apple trees were beginning to flower.
